Hey everyone! Today we are going to be talking about Maya Angelou’s quote, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” As you may know from a bit above, she is a very inspirational woman and we should all try to learn something from her, this quote can hopefully be one of those things. So as you know, life is constantly throwing obstacles at us. Imagine this scenario. You are trying to walk through this super snowy and cold area and just trying to get to your “finish area” or end point. This journey going from where you are to the end point is just like life. And as you are going, there are snow balls, cold winds, ice, all these things that are coming in your way and hitting you. These are like our events in life. Some times there may be some good things, like how we have our parties and holidays, but there are a lot of hard things as well. But once they “hit” us, we learn how we should have dealt with them that way next time we get in the same situation, we know how to deal with it. In our little scenario, you can imagine getting hit by a wind, and then next time. you know to shelter yourself from it when the same things that build up to it start happening again. My main point with this is, don’t be afraid when bad things happen. Do your best to deal with them, and when it is over, learn how to reflect on the situation and pay attention to what happened building up to it. This way, whenever you are in another situation and similar things are happening, you know how to deal with it and you can avoid it.
