How can we learn to TRUST ourselves and then take this attribute to trusting others at work?
Not only is it important to trust ourselves & others its essential. It doesn't mean it will always be easy and also its doesn't mean that we have to Trust everything we see, hear or have blind Trust. Rather if we can let go, accept things as they are - we can then from a place of wisdom, choose who and what to Trust.
Listen to our Podcast & Guided Meditation on Acceptance:
There are Seven attitudinal foundations of mindfulness described by Jon Kabat-Zinn as the “major pillars of mindfulness practice”. The seventh one is TRUST.
We can begin by trusting our body, mind, heart and then take it to trusting others.
If we take time to reflect and see that our body is continuously working without us having to control it, we can build and acknowledge trust. If we can trust our body and organs that are working we can then learn to trust ourselves. If we can see that like breath can take care of it self so why does mind or any part of our life have to be different.
This does not mean we cant or should not do anything beyond Trust, but trusting helps be calm connect with power that we have and be able to choose.
Try below practice to cultivate TRUST as part of your Mindfulness meditation:
REFLECT: As you settle in a formal meditation or sit and find time to reflect, just focus on Breathing. Notice the air going in and out.
Next on Trust – what thoughts come to mind? Are you easily able to trust yourself and others? OR what do you feel uneasy about and is harder to trust?
See if you can Note your thoughts, feelings and sensations without getting hooked into the experience. Observe, If you feel any light or strong emotions like anger, anxiety, feelings like worry etc.
RESPOND: Come back to breathing, slow deep breathing. Let go of whats not needed, accepting things as they are. Let the breath help you be calm and from here decide with your power of choice – who you can trust.
INTEGRATE: Remember this “Trust” exercise. Breathe Relax, Let Go and Choose to Trust.
