Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud

What a beautiful quote for the month of October which is Mental Health awareness month. We all are going through challenges and each of us can make a difference in someone’s life.

REFLECT: Is there anyone that needs your help in anyway?
RESPOND: What will you do today to apply this quote?
INTEGRATE: Take a pause, be present in the moment & look during day where with a small action like genuine compliment or smile you can make someone’s day!

Try to be a rainbow in someone’s Cloud.

Maya Angelou

Hey everyone! Although i normally do posts by people who I don’t know before hearing about the quote, today I felt like this quote was the one even though most of us have at least heard of Maya Angelou.

About the Author of Quote: Maya Angelou was an American poet, a memoir writer, and a civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies ( biographies written by herself ), three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is actually credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning for over 50 years! She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees.

Now that you hopefully know a bit more about this amazing, and hard working woman, let’s take some time to understand what she wanted us to learn and do from her quote. Maya Angelou said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” I like this quote a lot, because although we are making the most out of it, we are living in a very hard and somewhat harsh time. And just in general, I am a teenager and i have learned that a lot of teens experience some form of depression during their teen years whether it is severe, or mild.

What I personally understand and hop to be able to do from this quote, is to try to give everyone you see a nice compliment. Most of the time, people put their “happy face” on to try not to show people they are sad. Some people think it is embarrassing, some just don’t want others to feel bad for them, and some may think that people will get sad seeing them sad. Whatever their reason may be, you will never know if someone is faking their happiness or being real. No matter what, always try to give people some sort of nice compliment. Saying something you may think has no meaning and is super simple may make their day completely better, and maybe change the way they think about themselves.

Sab sikhan ko Hukam hai guru manyo Granth – Jyoti jot divas Guru Gobind Singh
Joti jot means the day Guru Gobind Singh ji left his heavenly abode in 1708, at Hazur Sahib(Nanded) Maharashtra India.

This quote “All Sikhs are commanded to take the Granth as Guru” is by the last living Guru for the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This was proclaimed by Guru ji when he felt that his call from Heaven had come and it was time for him to pass the successorship (gur gadi).
