“The is not to be than the other man, but your previous .”

Dalai Lama

Today we have a quote from the great Dalai Lama. Many times we get carried away into trying to be better than others 24/7. This quote is inspiring us that we should focus on being better than who we previously were.

Although it may be hard to try and keep ourselves from comparing ourselves against others, calming exercises can be helpful. Such techniques can help us to relax and reflect as to what to do in such situations.

There is nothing wrong with competition, but this quote is trying to help us learn as to how we can continue to make ourselves better.

We can all practice Dalai Lama’s teachings by simply encouraging ourselves to be a better version of ourselves rather than trying to be better than others.

A lot of people, especially teenagers, have to learn about .

“Health is the greatest gift, contentment is the greatest wealth”

Buddha in Dhammapada verse 204

Buddha in this quote is teaching us the importance of contentment. Everyone wants to have the latest phone, the latest shoes, etc. But why? Aren’t all of the things that we already have not enough? We all have to learn to appreciate what we have instead of focusing on what we don’t have.

Think about a very rich person like Jeff Bezos. He has the wealth to be able to buy anything that comes to his mind. But those things that hemal buy may not bring him lasting happiness. Just like kids will get momentarily excited about a small toy. This quote is trying to explain to us that we don’t need all of the latest things. What we need is to be content with what we already have, and make the most out of it.
